The Finnish Centre for Continuing Pharmaceutical Education with the financial support of the Finnish Cultural Foundation has produced a link collection www.tippa.net, which consists of specifically evaluated links.
Internet has dramatically changed the supply of health information by making available an ocean of information. It is difficult to evaluate validity of the information and supplier's qualification to supply this kind of information. This has increased the need for evaluated health information.
The aim of the Tippa.net link collection is to facilitate the finding of objective and comprehensive information on the Internet to support professional patient counselling in Finnish pharmacies. The link collection includes evaluated medical information and healthcare knowledge.
The evaluation of the links is made by using certain criteria formed for this purpose. To be chosen to Tippa.net link collection, a web site must meet requirements defined in the Tippa.net criteria. The emphasis is given to the following areas: objective and target group, userfriendliness, offered information and material, information provider, technical suitability.
The collection includes over 1.600 links which are grouped in four categories: Illnesses and Medical Treatment, Electronic Publications, Information Services and Authorities, Organisations and Health Care Providers. Under these categories are several more specific subcategories.
