www.tippa.net - An evaluated collection of web site links for pharmacists

Tippa.net is a collection of web site links aimed for Finnish pharmacy personnel. It includes more than 1,600 closely evaluated links to medical and drug information that are classified under four categories. All the included links should fulfil the following five criteria:

I    Objective and target group

The aim of the Tippa.net link collection is to function as a tool, which facilitates Finnish pharmacy personnel in finding professional information on the Internet. The chosen web sites must offer usable information which supports drug communication or professional work at the pharmacy.

II    User friendliness

Information must be easy to obtain and the pages should be grouped in a sensible way. The sites included should be written in a domestic language (Finnish or Swedish) or in English.

III    Offered information and material

The chosen sites must offer objective, valid, comprehensive and up-to-date information. Taking the nature of information into consideration, the pages must be updated sufficiently often. Relevant references should be presented on the pages. If any advertising is used as a source of funding, it must occur in a manner that clearly separates the advertisement from the actual information.

IV    Information provider

The material provider`s contact information must appear on the web site. The pages must not be aimed for commercial purposes. The information provider must be reliable and knowledgeable in the matter in question.

V    Technical suitability

The web site must function and be readable with common operating systems and browsers. If any additional software is required to obtain the information, it must be mentioned.
